Important Notice for Mississippi Military and Overseas Voters

October 23, 2012 ? Alexandria, Va. ? Military and overseas voters in three Mississippi counties will have additional time to submit voted ballots. Due to delays in transmitting military and overseas ballots in Hinds, Jefferson Davis, and Pontotoc counties at least 45 days before the 2012 General Election, the Secretary of State has extended the deadline for receiving ballots to 7 p.m., CST on Saturday, November 10, 2012.

The four-day deadline extension only applies to Hinds, Jefferson Davis, and Pontotoc counties. The deadline for all other military and overseas voters to vote is 7 p.m. on Tuesday, November 6th.

If you have any questions, please locate and contact your election official at the following link: http://www.sos.ms.gov/page.aspx?s=7&s1=1&s2=7.

Alternatively, you can call the Elections Division of the Mississippi Secretary of State's office at 800-829-6786 or email at UOCAVA@sos.ms.gov.

If you have already registered but have not received a State ballot for the November 6th General Election, go to FVAP.gov and use the back-up, Federal Write-In Absentee Ballot (FWAB). For each office listed, select or write-in either a candidate?s name or their party designation. If you receive your State ballot after submitting the FWAB, vote and return the State ballot as well. You will only receive one vote as the State will only count your FWAB if the State ballot is not received by the deadline. If your State ballot is received by the deadline your State ballot will be counted and the FWAB will be disregarded.
